Grange Energy Park – Stallingborough
Political and stakeholder engagement
Community engagement
Overview
Renewable energy developer Island Green Power is looking to develop a green energy park with solar and battery storage components in North East Lincolnshire, an area seeking to become a renewables powerhouse.
What we did
Grasshopper worked as part of the project team to provide community and stakeholder engagement at the outset of the project. We engaged with local politicians, businesses and residents to discuss the benefits of the site and the need for projects like Grange Energy Park.
A key focus to the dialogue with the community was the role of Lincolnshire in contributing to securing the country’s energy supply, and the role of renewables in tackling the climate emergency, as well as discussion around the location of the battery storage which had two preliminary options.
Outcome
The feedback from residents and stakeholders highlighted a number of potential issues with the proposed development and therefore helped to shape the final plans including the location of the battery storage, as well as informing further environmental studies. This alteration to the plans received much more positive feedback during the second round of consultation.
