Communications strategy

Resilient Swansea is a local initiative to bring people together from across the county to seek their views on how to best tackle climate change in their local area to create a greener, stronger community.

Grasshopper supported JBA and the Swansea Climate Charter Signatories to develop and implement a communications strategy which would support the gathering of community input for this initiative across the county.

The information gathered would then be used to support the development of a climate change mitigation and adaptation strategy and action plan for the county of Swansea.

What we did

Grasshopper produced a strategy and key messaging, along with bilingual media releases, copy for a webpage, a social media toolkit and community poster. We also carried out an extensive stakeholder mapping exercise to establish all local community groups across the county and generated an invite list.

We then supported the delivery of 12 bilingual community workshops across the region.  During the workshops, we facilitated discussions and collected insight and ideas from community members across the county.

Grasshopper’s creative team was instrumental in the development of the branding for the project, as well as creating all bilingual workshop collateral.  This included a welcome exhibition board and a PowerPoint presentation, as well as group discussion worksheets and prompt cards. We also produced a project survey to gather feedback from a wider audience.

Outcome

All the information gathered during the workshops will be included in the report being collated by JBA for the Swansea Climate Signatories. This will help to shape the future strategy for climate change mitigation and adaptation for the county of Swansea, due out for consultation in early 2025.
