Overview

As part of its active travel campaign to get people moving, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council appointed Grasshopper to design, brand and create an active lifestyle campaign.

A key component of this campaign was to deliver an engaging and user-friendly active travel map to demonstrate the current and future routes that have been created for walkers, cyclists and wheelchair users.

What we did

Grasshopper worked closely with the Council to develop the branding, graphics, visual language and illustrations to complement their existing branding. We then developed a suite of creative assets to help promote the campaign, including a website, social media templates and posters.

We then developed the main asset, an interactive, fully functional, user-friendly and accessible active travel map that could be printed or viewed live via a smartphone or laptop. All routes were colour coded to indicate its usability by foot, wheel or bike as well as whether it was an existing or future route.

The idea of the map was to demonstrate the breadth of active travel routes in existence for people to utilise, but also the Council’s plan to develop more routes in the future, offering additional choice in terms of active travel options.

Outcome

An engaging and dynamic sub-brand was created, along with the website that housed the key messaging, creative content (illustrations, graphic and video) and the fully interactive, active travel map which was made live and rolled out to the communities of Neath Port Talbot to access and get inspired to get moving.
