Overview
Working with Taff Housing, Grasshopper developed a corporate affairs strategy to position Taff Housing at the forefront of campaigning for change around the homelessness agenda.
What we did
We produced a selection of written materials targeted at a range of different media outlets. This included an in-depth commentary article outlining the challenges and how Welsh Government could address homelessness as well as highlighting the lived experience of a current Taff Housing colleague, who shared her powerful journey from experiencing homelessness to rebuilding her life with the support of a Taff Housing Hostel.
In addition, we crafted a response to the Welsh Government’s Homelessness White paper setting out Taff Housing experiences, expertise and policy proposals, hosted a Senedd roundtable chaired by a leading Member of the Senedd and attended by homelessness stakeholders and other MS’s. We also directly engaged Members of the Senedd across all parties through a Senedd drop-in event.
Outcome
In addition to securing 11 pieces of media coverage with 46 brand mentions and an audience of 351K. We facilitated meeting with 14 key political influencers to discuss the homelessness policy reforms and achieved support from key homelessness and housing policies through Welsh Government ministerial questions. Taff Housing also secured six mentions of homelessness and housing policy proposals during Welsh Government ministerial questions.
The campaign has secured Taff Housing as an organisation at the forefront of the homelessness agenda with Welsh media, politicians, government and stakeholders.
