Overview

Solent Gateway was awarded a concession by the Ministry of Defence to develop Marchwood Port into a commercial port. Public consultation was undertaken through 2020 and 2021 to support a hybrid planning application for the site.

What we did

Grasshopper delivered local community engagement, alongside a robust programme of political and stakeholder engagement.  This included a virtual exhibition to demonstrate how the new port would look and feel, and a traditional media and social media strategy and delivery.

Outcome

The application was supported by key stakeholders including Marchwood Parish Council, Solent Local Enterprise Partnership, Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, and the New Forest Business Partnership and planning was granted from New Forest District Council.

Planning permission was granted spring 2022.
