Award Season – reflections on a brilliant year
It feels like the Grasshopper team is riding the crest of a wave at the moment – having been shortlisted for three, and winning one, consultancy of the year awards.
Founded 8 years ago with a simple mission – to work with communities to deliver better projects and lasting social value – we have focussed on ensuring we remain true to our purpose; whether that’s helping developers to better engage communities so they shape places they live or delivering campaigns that mobilise climate positive behaviour.
People-first culture
Key to our success has been recruiting and retaining people who have a genuine passion for making a positive impact on the world around them. This shines through the work we deliver for clients and the insight we bring to projects.
In return, we’ve made it a priority to reward and look after our team; we have made 4 team promotions in the last 12 months and commit to running salary benchmarking on an annual basis. We held our first annual wellbeing day in March, and have monthly team socials. We offer flexible working to flex around project peaks/troughs and caring responsibilities and offer 2 days paid volunteering a year.
It’s amazing to see our investment in workplace culture really paying off – in a recent anonymous colleague survey, 100% of our team recommended Grasshopper as a great place to work.
2022-23 marks the most successful financial year in Grasshopper’s history; smashing growth targets, retaining key clients and gaining new ones. We have seen particular growth in renewable energy, cementing our position as a leading communications agency in this sector. Client satisfaction was high this year, with three quarters of clients rating us a 9 or 10/10.
Onwards and upwards
There’s always more to do… we’re constantly evolving how we support under-represented groups and this is something we’re particularly focussing on this year, alongside further strengthening our sustainability programme. This will allow us to keep improving and keep reaching – positively impacting communities where we work and championing what we believe in.
